Earl W. Overstreet
is EWO Boxers. The EWO kennel name is derived from his initials.
In 1955, Earl
purchased his first Boxer puppy from the breeders of Marjack Boxers.
That puppy was Marjack's Golden Wit, a plain fawn daughter of CH Captain
Lookout of Thornhall and CH Marjack's Golden Mist. Wit's second litter
sired by CH Hectic Acres Loud Speaker (a CH Bang Away of Sirrah Crest,
SOM son) in 1959 produced Earl's first champion. This bitch named
EWO's Miss Wink O'Dawn tied for the ABC Annual Award for the bitch winning
the Most Working Groups in 1960.
Earl became
a professional handler in 1967.
Earl judged
the Futurity in 1983, giving the Grand Prize to Bee-Mike's
Ebony 'N Ivory, a 6-9 month bitch.
After Earl
handled CH Heldenbrand's Jet Breaker to an
Award of Excellence at ABC in 1989, they went on to win BOB at the Regional
in 1989 and at ABC in 1990, under respected judges John Connolly and Joseph
Heine. Jet Breaker qualified to compete in the Top 20 in 1990 and
1991 under Earl's guidance.
In 1992,
Earl won Frist Prize Futurity Junior from the 15-18 month fawn bitch class
with EWO's Cinnamon, a CH Heldenbrand's Jet
Breaker daughter out of CH EWO's Crystal, under
judge Stephanie Abraham. Reserve Futurity Junior went to Seaside's
EWO Surf Breaker, a litter brother to Cinnamon. This same year,
Earl competed in the Top 20 with CH EWO's Tie Breaker,
a son of Jet Breaker. The following year, both Tie and Surfer qualified
to compete in the Top 20.
Earl specialed
Siggy, Karmel's Dreamweaver, who was the
Grand Prize Futurity Winner and Reserve Winners Dog at the 1991 ABC, for
breeder/owner Karen Wilson and qualified to compete in the 1995 Top 20.
Earl competed
in the Top 20, again, in 1997 and 1998 with CH Tejelo
Reflection of Hunter, a CH EWO's Tie Breaker
son.
Earl became
a Life Member of ABC in 1992. He was given the Good Sportsmanship of the
Year award in 1994 and 2010, which is voted upon by his fellow ABC members.
He has been
active in the Indian River and Potomac Boxer Clubs, as well as the Roanoke
Kennel Club. Earl continues to breed and is currently campaigning
his latest homebred champion, CH EWO's Reflection
of Breaker.
